Anime On Record reports anime and Japanese pop-culture news in English,
from the Japanese announcement rather than from other English coverage.
Why this site exists
When a Japanese studio announces a broadcast date, the news usually reaches
English readers third-hand: a Japanese outlet reports it, an English outlet
summarises that report, and everyone else summarises the summary. Details get
lost on the way — the exact air time, the staff credits, the official spelling
of a name, which platforms were actually named and which were assumed.
We go back to the announcement. Every article here is written from the
official Japanese source and links to it, so you can check us.
What we publish
- News — broadcast and streaming dates, adaptations,
sequels, cast and staff, trailers. Short pieces, published when the
announcement is made, containing only what the announcement says. - Where to Watch pages — one per work, listing where a
title can be watched and every schedule date that has been officially
announced for it. When a premiere moves, the earlier date stays on the page
along with the announcement that changed it.
What we don’t do
We don’t rewrite other outlets’ reporting and present it as our own. We don’t
run rumours, leaks or unattributed scoops. We don’t pad an article with opinion
to make a thin announcement look substantial — if there are four facts, you get
four facts.
Our articles are drafted with the help of a language model, checked
mechanically against the source, and read by a person before anything is
published. We explain exactly how that works, and what it rules out, in our
editorial policy.
