This page explains what Anime On Record collects, why, and what you can ask us
to do about it. It describes what the site actually does today. If that changes
— for example if we begin carrying advertising — we will update this page and
note the date.

What we collect
You can read this entire site without giving us anything. There are no
accounts, no comments and no newsletter. We do not know who you are, and we
never ask. What we do collect is measurement of how the site is used, described
under Analytics, and a count of clicks on streaming
links, described under Links to streaming
services.
Analytics
Since August 2026 we use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read and
where readers arrive from. We added it because we could not otherwise tell
whether anything we publish reaches anyone.
It records the page you are on, the page or search that sent you, roughly
where in the world you are, and what kind of device and browser you use. Google
receives your IP address in order to work that out; it is used to derive an
approximate location and is not stored by us. We have turned off the settings
that let Google link this to advertising profiles or follow you across devices
(allow_google_signals and
allow_ad_personalization_signals), so the data is used to measure
this site and not to build an advertising audience.
We do not measure visits made while signed in to the site, so the
administrator’s own reading does not appear in the figures.
You can stop this. Any browser setting or extension that blocks Google
Analytics works here — we do nothing to defeat them — and Google publishes its
own opt-out add-on. Nothing on the site stops working if you
block it.
Server logs
Like any website, our host records requests made to it: your IP address, the
page requested, the time, your browser’s user-agent string and the page you came
from. These logs exist to keep the site running and to investigate abuse. We do
not use them to build a profile of you.
If you email us
Mail sent to our contact address is delivered and stored through Google
Workspace. We keep correspondence so that we can follow up on corrections and
rights-holder requests. We do not add you to any mailing list, and we do not
share your message with anyone outside the site unless you ask us to.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies on your machine, named _ga and
_ga_<id>. They hold a randomly generated number that lets
Google tell one browser from another, so that two page views from you are not
counted as two people. They are not required to read the site, and blocking or
deleting them costs you nothing here.
WordPress sets a cookie only when a site administrator signs in, to keep them
signed in. Apart from that and the analytics cookies above, nothing on the
public side of this site puts a cookie on your machine.
We use no tracking pixels and no advertising cookies.
Links to other sites
Our articles link to official announcements, and our “Where to Watch” pages
link to streaming services. Once you follow one of those links you are on
someone else’s site, under their privacy policy, and they may set their own
cookies. We have no control over and no visibility into that.
Links to streaming services
On our “Where to Watch” pages, the platform links do not point straight at
the platform. They go to an address on this site — one beginning
/go/ — which looks the destination up and forwards you to it. That
is deliberate for two reasons: a link can be corrected in one place when a
service reorganises its addresses, and we can only forward you to services on a
list we keep, so an entry that someone added to a public database cannot quietly
become a link out of this site.
Following one of those links adds one to a counter. That counter holds the
title, the platform and the date, and nothing else. It contains no identifier
for you — no IP address, no browser string — and there is no way to tell from it
whether two clicks came from the same person or from two.
We earn nothing from these links today. If that ever changes, the pages
carrying them will say so plainly, and this page will be updated with the date.
Who processes data for us
- Our hosting provider — stores the site and its server logs.
- Google Analytics — receives and processes the measurement
described above. - Google Workspace — receives and stores email sent to our
contact address.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep things
Email correspondence is kept while it is useful for handling corrections and
requests. Server logs are kept for as long as our host retains them. Analytics
data is kept by Google for the period set in our account, after which the
underlying records are deleted and only the aggregate reports remain. The click
counter described above is kept indefinitely, because it holds nothing about
you.
Your choices
Wherever you are, you can ask us to show you what personal data we hold about
you, correct it, or delete it. In practice that means the emails you have sent
us, and anything we can identify in the analytics — which, because we hold no
account for you, is usually nothing. If you are in the UK or the European
Economic Area, the GDPR gives you those rights explicitly, along with the right
to object to processing and to complain to your local supervisory authority. We
will respond to any such request regardless of where you are.
To stop the analytics outright, block it in your browser or install Google’s
opt-out add-on.

Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly
collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal
data, write to us and we will remove it.
