The official website has announced a new TV anime based on the smartphone game Monster Strike, titled Mera×Death: Shinigami to Boku no Ijou na Koi. This new series is set to premiere on January 5, 2027, and will air on ten terrestrial stations including Tokyo MX (planned), with streaming on various services.
The story unfolds in a city called Ouma, six years after a miraculous explosive event with zero casualties. It follows a high school student named Mera Kagari, who leads a mundane life until he encounters a mysterious girl named Thirteen on his sixteenth birthday. Their meeting brings dramatic changes to his life, coinciding with strange events occurring in the city.
The animation is directed by Kenta Kushitani with Daisuke Daito handling the series composition and script. Character designs are crafted by Chu Sakazaki.
Further production details include prop and creature designs by Masayuki Honda, color design by Azusa Sasaki, and a soundtrack composed by Masaru Yokoyama, Kana Hashiguchi, and Natsuki Hamada.
