'Pokémon The Origin' will be broadcast on August 2, 2026 in BS12's Sunday Animation Theater slot. The original animation is the first to depict the world of the Pokémon Red and Green games.
The story follows Red, who sets out across the Kanto region after receiving his first partner Pokémon from Professor Okido and being entrusted with completing the Pokédex. It covers his battles with his rival Green, his challenge to the gym leader Takeshi, and the confrontation with the criminal organisation Team Rocket and its boss Sakaki.
Cast
Junko Takeuchi voices Red and Takuya Eguchi voices Green. Katsuji Mori plays Professor Okido, Tomokazu Sugita plays Takeshi and Rikiya Koyama plays Sakaki. Yui Ishikawa, Tokuyoshi Kawashima and Minoru Inaba appear as Reina, Wataru and Old Man Fuji.
Staff
Animation production is credited to OLM, Production I.G and XEBEC. The four episodes each have a different director, and Masafumi Mima is sound director.
